Software Used: OS was Windows 98 build 1998. CPU was AMD K6/3-400. Test Tones generated by CoolEdit Pro 1.1, Coding by L3Enc 2.71 w/"HQ" & "CRC" parameters. Media player was Winamp Release 2.10. Data analysis by Spectra Lab 4.32.14.

* rating of "poor" is based on the absence of response above 10 KHz.while operating at the 64 KHz bitrate.

Discussion Of Results

Since this test involves perceptual coding, please consider the results shown here as being "necessary" rather than "sufficient". In other words, good performance with the signals used is a reasonable requirement for any audio device, but good performance of perceptual coders with these signals is not an absolute guarantee of good audible performance with musical program material.
