Testing Software / Benchmarks
- CoolEdit Pro and
CoolEdit96 include a FFT with up to 64k points.. The
imbedded test signal generator creates a variety of sine
wave and random noise based signals. CoolEdit Pro has
support for long data words (> 16 bits). See http://www.syntrillium.com/indext.htm for more information and
hobbled demo versions.
- Goldwave also does
spectral analysis. Its mathematical-expression based test
signal generator can be very flexible if you know some
math. Full function demo at http://www.goldwave.com/.
- Spectra Wave and
Spectra Lab are easy to use, quite flexible, and have
very nice real-time analytical capabilities. The Lab
version has support for long data words. You can find 30
day full function demos of this software at http://www.telebyte.com/pioneer/ and http://www.pmgrp.com/prod01.htm
- ETF stands for Energy
Time Frequency analysis software - arguably far better
than simple spectral analysis for testing things like
speakers. http://www.etfacoustic.com has more information and
informative demonstrations you can download.
- Liberty Audio Suite is
a classic and uses the DSP of Turtle Beach Fiji and
Pinnacle cards to speed operations. It deserves a look at
http://www.libinst.com/.
- Most aggressive,
performance-wise, of all the spectral analysis programs
I've tried is HPW Works, with support for up to 1 million
point FFT's. HPW also has top support for high sample
rates and long data words. Swiss precision strikes again!
HPW includes a very nice signal generator that creates
very low distortion test signals and the multitone signal
I use for frequency response testing. The author also
works in English, is very responsive to suggestions and
provides quick technical support. The "Lite"
version of this software may be found for download at HpW
Works
- Take a look at Clio,
another European offering: http://www.mclink.it/com/audiomatica/products.htm
- Sample Champion is a new product that looks
like it has a lot of potential, especially since a Signal Quality module
has been added. http://www.purebits.com
- Many academic folks
like Siglab. For more information check out http://www.dspt.com/sig/saglab.html
- Analyzer2000 looks like
the beginning of something interesting. You can check out
thelr latest version at http://www.brownbear.de/
